Chinese New Year – Year of the Monkey

Tomorrow is the coming of the new year in the Lunar calendar. That means many families will be  enjoying huge feasts tonight since it’s the eve. Here’s what I got to eat today:

If you count the number of dishes, you’ll notice that there are eight dishes.  Eight (pronounced “bat”) is a number that represents good fortune because it verbally sounds similar to “rich” (“fat”), which is why you see so many Asians favouring that number. 888? It’s not just a coincidence. 🙂
