I had a friend come up from the United States to Canada for the first time, so I thought it would be funny to give him a gag gift. He said he wanted to be Canadian for a day, so voilà! Très Canadien, n’est-ce pas?
I don’t know why, but Canadians love eating KD macaroni and cheese. It’s cheap and it’s easy to make like instant noodles, but I think there’s something about the powdered cheese that draws people in. It’s also pasta and that’s comforting to many. Other than KD, what else is considered Canadian? Off of the top of my head, I thought of poutine, maple syrup, ice wine, butter tarts and good ole’ Tim Hortons. However, doing a quick search revealed that Canadian cuisine also consists of bannock, salmon jerky, peameal bacon, Montreal-style bagels and smoked meats and Nanaimo bars. Have you ever tried any of these?
