Word of the Day – Ganache

I’m sure everyone has had something with ganache on it or in it and probably just as many people have asked: “what’s a ganache”? Well, you know that lovely glaze coating of chocolate that drizzles down a cake or the chocolate filling in a pastry or truffles? That’s a ganache.

It’s made of cream and melted chocolate and the consistency can vary, depending on what it is being used for. Just be careful you don’t overheat the chocolate because it can seize and that’s no fun.

Below was my latest attempt at using ganache to drizzle on a Bailey’s cheesecake.

Bailey’s Cheesecake

Clearly it was too thick to accomplish what I was going for, but at least it tasted delicious!
