While spring officially arrives on March 20th, we don’t actually get steady spring weather until much later in Canada. Now that it’s May, I think it’s safe to say that spring is officially here to stay. That means summer is coming soon and that means wedding season! And before every wedding, it’s tradition for the lovely bride to get a bridal shower. Last year, I planned a tea party themed shower for a friend. While picking the decorations, games and prizes are significant, food is probably the most important part in planning a shower. It may depend on the theme, but finger foods are probably a good idea since bridal showers are usually thrown on Sunday afternoons. Here are some food ideas that were used for this bridal shower:
- Baby sized croissants
- Fruit & veggie platter
- Mini tarts
- Mini quiche
- Mini danishes
- Chocolate dipped strawberries
- Cream filled strawberries
- Tea sandwiches (cucumber with cream cheese, tomatoes with cream cheese, etc.)
- Spring rolls
- Jello shots or mimosas (if the bride enjoys alcohol)
Some other ideas include crackers with cheese, deviled eggs, samosas, cookies, brownies, scones, cupcakes and other small pastries or hor d’oeuvres. And of course, a cake!
Food is one thing that unites everyone, so it’s crucial to have fresh and tasty options that cater to everyone’s taste buds.
As a final note for those planning a bridal shower: plan in advance and ask for all the help you can get!
