Word of the Day: Viennoiseries

Viennoiseries is a fancy term to refer to those deliciously rich, baked goods made from yeast-leavened dough. The word viennoiseries refers to “things from Vienna” and is the type of baked treat that is a cross between bread and a pastry. However, it is enriched by additional ingredients to make it richer and sweeter than a bread but not as sugary as a pastry. Some popular viennoiseries include brioche, pain au chocolat and croissants.

So why did I write about viennoiseries today? It’s because I bought some frozen croissant dough and baked them in the oven. Mmm…the scent of fresh baked viennoiseries…absolutely divine!
