This past weekend was our Canadian Thanksgiving and a colleague of mine sent me a fitting poem:
May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy,
Have a nary lump.
May your yams be delicious,
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner,
Stay off your thighs!
Hopefully this rings true because I was fortunate enough to be part of two Thanksgiving dinners which stuffed me to the brim! Both meals were very different, but also very delicious. And the best part is both turkeys were juicy and moist!
The first dinner had turkey, cranberry sauce, vegetables in a mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes, homemade pickles and a beet/horseradish side. There was a beautiful homemade chiffon cake as well, but I forgot to take a picture of it. Silly me!
The second Thanksgiving dinner had turkey with cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravy, potato wedges, boiled cauliflower/broccoli, a French baguette, baked pumpkin and oxtail stew. Oxtail stew isn’t very traditional, but it was definitely a new tasty option on the table.
And to end the night for dinner #2, pumpkin pie of course!
What did you have for Thanksgiving? 🙂
