When I first saw these, they reminded me of Pączki (pronounced “pon-ski”, the Polish version of a donut) and Zappi Pączek Split (Donut Split). However, they’re actually called Racuchy (pronounced “ra-soo-heh”). They look like mini donuts or fritters without any filling (though some call these pancakes as well).
It is a bit crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. They are shallow fried and turn out as pouffy little treats that are lightly sweet because of the powdered sugar sprinkled on top.
I am told that they can be filled with apple too, but the powdered sugar version is great! 🙂
